When you go out to eat, it is comforting to order the same thing over and over again but there’s nothing better than experiencing new restaurants and new food with people who are just as excited as you are. After visiting the bubble tea shop in the island, I have thought of visiting more local and independent restaurants. Honoré bakery caught my attention. It is located in Kalibo, Aklan and it offers glorious pastries of every kind. Honore offers a variety of pastries that will surely take you to different places. They have wide range of pastries from breads, cookies, fruit tarts, a section for doughnuts, cinammon, croissants, danishes and pain au chocolat of France!
Upon entering, you will be welcomed by the aroma of freshly baked viennoiserie wafted through the air. It has a garden where you can eat your ordered pastries and enjoy the beauty of nature all in one! The interior of the store is a product of artistry and indeed reflects the Aklanon culture and talents.
I had a hard time choosing what to order because all the pastries looked enticing and it’s too good to ignore how they were beautifully baked. In the end, I ordered Vanilla Muffin with Almonds, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Ube Cheese roll, Spicy Pork Floss and Pain Au Chocolat. The muffin has crunchy almonds and it is nicely dense and sturdy making it a great grab-and-go treat. Their spicy pork floss is fluffy and savory. One bite and I have tasted the savory pork floss and super soft buns. Filipino craze over ube cheese roll is still on and Honoré has it! It has a soft texture on the inside and crusty outside. It also has a melty cheese filling that melts in your mouth. My favorite among my orders is their Pain Au Chocolat. It is buttery, chocolate-filled but not very sweet and is extremely delicious! A must try! For the beverages, they offer a variety of milkshakes but my favorite among them is their Strawberry milkshake and I assure you that so far, it is the best milkshake I have ever tasted.
Honoré bakery does not only give you a taste of good pastries but also allows you to feel the warmth of being at home with the aroma of their freshly baked breads and the peacefulness of the place. I highly recommend it for those who are tired and stressed from work and students who wish to find some peace from academic pressure. With dining and visiting the place, you are actually helping a fellow Akeanon. It is important to support local eateries for they are your neighbors chasing their dreams. It is rated highly because it is special, community oriented and has personalized service. Rest assured that it is worth it and you will find joy, pleasure and satisfaction of eating in Honore.
